Most people believe washing their hair daily will improve the texture and condition of their hair. This is not true. When you wash your hair daily you wash away the natural oils from the hair and scalp and this results in the hair looking dry and uncared for. In order to have healthy well maintained hair you must wash your hair every alternate day.

You can increase the production of natural oils in your scalp by massaging your hair with your finger tips. Alternatively you could also brush your hair a few times a day. The friction caused by the bristles of the brush and the pressure that the bristles apply on your scalp stimulates the scalp to increase the production on natural oils in the scalp.

Don’t wash your hair with hot water as this too is one of the culprits that steal the natural oils from your scalp. Instead wash your hair with cold water as it makes the hair look shiny and bouncy. Cold water increases the volume of the hair naturally.

Do not apply any cleansing products to dry hair. Ensure that you wet the entire length of your hair before you apply shampoo. Also lather the shampoo in the palms of your hand before you apply it to the scalp. Rinse the hair well to ensure that the product is washed out of your hair too. Traces of soap or shampoo in your hair will cause damage to the scalp.

When you blow dry your hair ensure that the dryer is not on high and that you do not over dry the ends of the hair as they are delicate and they do not have oil in them.

A diet that is high in vitamins, low in fats and those that include protein and foods that are high in vitamins A,B,C,D and E. Remember, a diet that is rich in vitamins, free from harmful foods, a good styling routine and a stress free lifestyle will help you to have shiny healthy hair.
