Applying nail polish might look easy, but getting that flawless finish isn’t!  If you are someone who desires a perfect coat, then read ahead. Given below are a few tips and tricks on the same. All you will need is this information and some patience as well as practice.

Start by applying a very thin layer of base coat on your nails. The base coat prevents direct contact of the nail polish with the nails. In addition, it also averts chipping of nails. Do not apply nail polish before the base coat dries completely. Only after it has dried thoroughly, take the bottle of nail polish you wish to apply.

Never shake the bottle before using it. Just hold it in your hands and roll it for about thirty seconds. This helps to get a smooth finish because it keeps bubbles out of the bottle. Now open the cap of the bottle and gently pull the brush out. Wipe any excess nail polish on the brush on the edge of the bottle.

Apply the nail polish cautiously and follow the tips provided to get a smudge free look. Ensure that the nail polish has stuck evenly to the bristles of the brush from all sides. Don’t let the nail polish stick to the cuticle. To prevent this from occurring place the brush at a comfortable distance from the cuticle.

Start applying at the center of the nail first. Keep the brush at the midpoint of the nail base and away from the cuticle. Then, drag it gently toward the free edge of the nail. Now in the same way apply a coat of nail polish to the right as well as left side of the nail.

Try to cover your entire nail in these three strokes. In case, this does not happen, drag the brush along the uncovered areas to fill in. Concentrate and glide the brush along the length of the nail as any jerks will only mar the finish. Dip the brush into the bottle as required or whenever you paint a new nail. This will complete the first coat.

Let the first coat dry completely before applying the second coat. The two coats help the nail polish stay longer on your nails. The two coats will also help to get a shade similar to the one shown on the nail polish bottle. If you want the nail color to look a shade lighter apply only one coat.
