Designer perfumes have always been a rage. Brands like Christian Dior, Elizabeth Arden, Chanel, Gucci, Armani and the likes, have made some wonder fragrances and have famous celebrities as their brand ambassadors or for them to endorse their products. But the trends are changing and the celebrities are no more interested in endorsing any brand, they are rather coming up with their product lines and launching their own brands.

People are always affected and influenced by the advertisements and prefer to use same products as their favorite celebrities use, so the celebrities are now selling their own products, it gives them a better connectivity with their fans and also the fans feel close to the celebrity star.

It differs from celebrity to celebrity as to how really involved they are the process of making their fragrances. Some stars are only involved up to the level of investing money and using their name, while there are others who are quite involved in the process in terms of the kind of fragrance they want, the packaging and advertising.

Celebrities like Jenifer Lopez and Celine Dion remain involved in the process of the making of the perfumes. JLo, has herself worked at a perfume counter and was quite particular as to the kind of fragrance she wanted; so she remained closely in touch with her team regarding the same. Same with Celine Dion, she was even involved in the packaging and manufacturing of the perfume and of the perfume bottles as well.

The size, the shape, all designed and decided by her complete involvement. While Paris Hilton is one who is not much involved in the manufacturing but she publicizes and advertises her products very well. This, in some way connects her well with her product and it stands out and is identified as Paris Hilton’s fragrance.

Initially when the trend of celebrities launching themselves as brand was seen critically, but these days the trend is catching up, with more and more celebrities taking it up (starting from Elizabeth Taylor to Britney Spears). The products have become a rage among the consumers and the celebrity fragrances are giving strong competition even to the big brands in terms of sales.
