Dressing Tips for Bridesmaids

When selecting dresses for bridesmaid the bride should go with what will suit the body type of the bridesmaid instead of what the bride likes. If the bridesmaid’s dress does not sit well on her body or if she is uncomfortable wearing, this discomfort will show on her face during the wedding ceremony.

So when you go shopping for your bridesmaid think from her angle before selecting her dress. Doing so will help you decide on a comfortable and suitable dress for your right hand woman on your big day.

Be careful about the dress pattern that you select. A lot will of course depend on the kind of wedding you are having. If it’s a church wedding then pick a full flowing gown in simple design. If its a beach wedding then a short summery dress will be ideal. If you have a theme based wedding then the dress of the bridesmaid should be according to the theme. Whatever be the place of wedding, the simple rule to follow is to keep the dress of the bridesmaid simple.

Also keep in mind the season in which the wedding will happen. Choose the dress of the bridesmaid accordingly. Don’t give her full sleeved, billowy dress made in satin that will be the end of her in summer. Similarly keeping the dress short in winters will most likely freeze her. So choose the length and design of the dress according to the demand of the weather. Also select the fabric of the dress accordingly.

Once you are sure about the pattern, style, cut and fabric of the dress check if the color will compliment the skin tone and hair color of the bridesmaid. You don’t want your bridesmaid to look ridiculous on your wedding day by giving her uncomplimentary colors to wear. If the bridesmaid has a fair skin tone then almost any color will suit her. But take care to avoid garish colors like red and orange. Go with pastels and dark colors like deep wine and emerald. If she is brown skin toned then pinks and various shades of blues will be good. If she is dark in color then shades of reds and greens will be best.

If you want to make your wedding day a success then take care to make your bridesmaid look good. A well dressed bridesmaid will compliment the bride perfectly.
