Clean the Area Properly

You should clean your earring and area around the earring with cotton swab and antiseptic hydrogen peroxide at least two times a day. Do not remove ear piercing earrings. Avoid touching your earrings often. By the time you apply antiseptic, softly slide the earring so that antiseptic can reach the piercing area. This antiseptic will prevent germs from getting in this new pierced area before it heals properly.

Do Not Let Skin Grow Around the Earrings

Give your piercing earrings two or three partial turns 2-3 times a day. You should do this to avoid the growth of skin around the earrings which can later on do not allow you to take off your earrings out. Use painkillers if you have any pain or swelling.

Keep the Area Clean for the First Few Months

Use non iodized salt in warm water and soak your ears in it for few months after piercing. Clean your ear and earring with piercer cleaner. Avoid sleeping on the sides for first few weeks to avoid infection.

Remove the Earring After Six Months

Always remove the earring after 6 weeks from your ears. Ears will take around 6 to 9 weeks to heal and once they are healed you can wear different types of jewelry.

Do Not Wear Oversized Earrings

Wear proper earrings that shrink the hole and keep your ear piercing in proper shape. Oversized earrings which have a greater weight can cause damage to the skin of your ears.

In case you remove the pierced earring before its healing time then the hole will get closed, so it is recommended that you keep the pierced earring inside the hole even if it is not healed properly to avoid closing of pierced hole.

During ear piercing the hole is going to get bigger then what it will become after healing. So it is recommended that you should not wear earrings with small backings. Ear piercing is dangerous for diabetic patients or people who are suffering from any disease which can obstruct healing.
