How to do a French braid

Submitted on February 27, 2010 by 1 views

We have all envied the lady who looks elegant in her neatly done French braid. How we have wished that we could have done the same for our hair. Doing a French braid or French plait is not difficult. Here’s the step-by-step process made simple for you.

Comb your hair properly and de-tangle them. Your hair should be shining smooth. Now gather a section of your hair at the top of your head. Ensure that there aren’t any stray strands on either side. Gather hair evenly. Now cinch your hair using a Hair Cinch like you would do with a normal hair band or a scrunchie. Ensure that the bead falls in place.

Now take another section of your hair from both sides. Make another ponytail where you made the first one. Now pull the hair through the second loop in the hair cinch and tie in it in the same fashion as the first ponytail.

For women with short hair length making a French braid with two sections is just fine. Women with longer hair length can make as many as four sections by repeating the above steps. The number of sections also depends on the number of loops in your Hair Cinch. Generally Hair Cinch will have four loops.

A good idea is to use fingers instead of comb to gather hair from both sides. This is because the hair is gathered more evenly using fingers. Comb can leave out strands which will not make the braid look tidy. Also tightening the bead after pulling hair through the loop is very important. Once the bead is tightened nothing will disturb dishevel your braid.

For untying the French braid, uncinch one bead at a time. Don’t remove the cinch all in one go. Your hair will be in a tangle difficult to remove! Simply reverse what you did while tying your braid and your hair will be unknotted in no time.

The trick to tying a neat French braid lies in practice. Practice in front of the mirror everyday till you perfect the style. You can also place another mirror behind your head to see in the front how you are doing. Don’t be disheartened if you don’t get it right the first few times. Chances are that you will soon be pro at it and will no longer be envying other women.
