If you want to sum up the trend in jewellery; it can rightly be described as copius,bold and chunky. If this is too terse for you then we can also add; huge, colourful, hefty, quirky, and bohemian. The traditional slim and delicate is certainly out this season. Whew! We all needed a change, dint we? So, if you have donned some bling, make sure it dazzles and stands out.

Designs can be described as ornate and extravagant. Antique and vintage styles have made a re-appearance this season. Most of the pieces are either textured or layered for a grand facade. Even structures and edges have become more sharp and angular. As indulgence the buzz currently, designers are using 22 and 24 karat gold in jewellery. Platinum is also in trend. Silver and bronze are being used to create chunky pieces that are also economical at the same time. So, the trend of mixing organic metals with precious metal will also be on the rise.

Another trendy design being adapted rapidly is knots. Knots help bring a substantial look to your jewellery. Motifs have become very common. Most of the pieces are embellished with flowers, leaves, fringes and animal formations. Snakes and birds are whittled on numerous pieces currently. Other animals carved on jewellery are cats and panthers, sea creatures and starfish .

If you wear earrings, make sure that are sufficiently wide or long. Danglers are an excellent choice. Chandelier design is another hot favourite. Hoops have been rising high on the fashion charts since a very long time and still continue to reign. Necklaces and pendants are bulky and dramatic. Go for thick, chunky pieces adorned in uncut and hefty precious stones. Collar necklaces and chokers are the taste of the season.

Bracelets and bangles should be thick and stocky. Link bracelets are quite chic. Designers are getting increasingly innovative with bangles, they are now available in square shape also!! A stocky bracelet or a thick bangle has become a fashion statement. You can wear it all by itself, it makes quite am impression. Rings are becoming increasingly chunky and eye catching. Butterfly and flower patterns have become extremely common.

Gemstones have become hip this season to complete the opulent style. Rich hues and an array of colored gems are embellished on the jewellery.  Rubies, emeralds and blue sapphires are the being used widely. South sea pearls have also become extremely hot. The stones used are bright and extravagant in colors. Some of the semi precious stones used generously this season are turquoise, agates, onyx, and coral. Multi colored beads have become a fury. Crystals, rhinestones and art glass is also seen commonly in jewellery.
