The daytime fashion did not match the evening fashion. But by this time all such ideas became backdated and a totally new fashion trend evolved that was witty and full of fun and fancy. This period witnessed a rapid and radical change not only in dress, but also in hairstyle and accessories.

It started by the late 1950’s and became much popular as a design for hair accessories by the 1960’s. This style made use of thick rhinestones in combination with colored stones and pearl.

This hair accessory used to be terribly colorful, and had a rich and lavish style of its own. This style was most commonly used in the USA. The hair accessory of this style was much used by the mature class of fashionable women.

The Bouffant Hairstyle

This type of hairdressing involved a lot of backcombing. This style was called a beehive for its domed shape. This style made use of elaborate hair ornament. It became more popular after the US first lady Jackie Kennedy started wearing her hair in that fashion.
