French inspired hairstyles are one of the most sought after hairstyles. Irrespective of the length of your hair, you can try the different hair styles to suit your face. Here are some of the most popular French inspired hairstyles.

Classic Chignon

The Classic Chignon is one of the most popular of the French hair styles that has a Greek origin. It got popularized in the Victorian period with members of the royal and noble ladies, making up their hair in this style. There are numerous variations to this style like a simple bun or the twist. The basic styling remains the same.

Use a paddle brush comb to smooth the hair straight. Collect the hair at the back of the nape in to a pony tail. Split the hair of the pony tail in to half and ease out the knots in the two parts of the pony tail.

Twist one part of the pony tail under and use a bobby pin to secure it at its position. Repeat the same with the other part of the pony tail also. Clip the stray hair strands to form a neat classic Chignon bun. You can use accessories to decorate the bun and further enhance its look.

French Twist

This French inspired hairstyle is best suited for mid length hair. This is very formal in appearance and produces an elegant look. To make a French twist, make a low ponytail near the nape.

Ensure that the pony remains a little off the center. Now twist the pony tail upward and again fold it down to the original position of the pony. Secure the folds with bobby pins. This hair style is used in formal occasions like a state party or a wedding.

French Braid

This is one of the casual French hair styles. It is basically a plait that goes from the top of the head to down. To make a French braid, free the hair from any kind of knot. Take a section of hair at the top of your head and partition it in to three sections.

Ensure that the strands of hair get separated till the end. Take strands from one side of the head and plait it with the other two strands in the same way as a simple braid. Add smaller portions of hair sections from either side alternatively to the main plate till the braid reaches the nape or the end of the hair length. Tie the end with a band.

Fish Tail

In this French inspired hair style, the hair is divided into two large sections. A fish tail is similar to that of the French braid. The hair plait is worn either from the middle or from the side of the head. Alternatively strands from either portion of the hair get crossed over each other. The braid continues till the ends taper.
